• Low-mileage vehicles: once a year, even if you don’t hit the mileage.

Oil gets contaminated from fuel, moisture, and carbon. If you don’t drive enough to burn those off, the oil turns acidic and starts eating away at metal. That’s why time matters just as much as mileage.

Choosing the Right Oil for Your Car

The most important thing is using the correct weight for your engine and climate. Your owner’s manual will tell you what’s best.

• If it says synthetic only, then use synthetic.
• If it allows conventional, you can choose either.

Synthetic oil is usually better:

• It handles heat and cold better.
• It lasts longer.
